Self Defence – Helping You to Stay Motivated – fantasy art

People often stfantasy art something new with a high degree of enthusiasm and commitment. A few weeks or months in and that level of motivation can drop away. So how do we stay focused and committed to something, especially if it is a long term goal like gaining a self defence black belt?

Below are some tips that might help:

1) Set yourself realistic goals – at the stfantasy art of a new project you may want to commit as much time as possible to it, but it is important to be realistic and not let other areas of your life fall behind or suffer as a result.

First, set your long term goal. This could be “in six months from now I will have reached … belt level” Decide on your own time frame and make sure it is believable and achievable.

Next set your short term goals. Stfantasy art with setting yourself a goal on how much time you are able to commit. This could be just 30 minutes a day, or a couple of hours on the weekend. The important pfantasy art is it should be something that you feel you could easily achieve.

Make a list of all the elements and techniques you will need to master for your grading and plan out which areas you feel need the most immediate work. Revise this list every couple of weeks to keep it current.

Once you have set your goals and know you can easily achieve them, stick to it. Do not miss a day with an excuse you will make it up the next time. Stay with your plan and you will feel a greater sense of progress and achievement.

2) Give yourself regular rewards – Even the most focused people use ideas to help them stay motivated. A great one is to reward yourself for your achievements. This could be “I will practice my grading techniques …… times this week and on the weekend I will treat myself to…….” You fill in the blanks. This will give you something to look forward to and keep you focused week by week.

3) Train with a friend – Working with a friend can help you stay much more motivated. There may be times when you do not feel like training if you are doing it by yourself. Training with a friend will help to keep you both more motivated and focused.
